- I reformatted the hard drive and experienced the same strange modem
- problem with only ms-dos 6.2 loaded. I experimented with the modem on
- COM1 through COM4. No solution yet. I created a little batch file
- that contained the command "echo atdt 999-9999 > com%1". All I wanted
- to do was power up the machine and verify that I could get the modem
- to dial. It only works on the power-up directly following a physical
- installation. If I have it working, then power down for about a
- minute, when I power up, the modem will not respond. I have tested
- this with both serial ports on the motherboard disabled, and no other
- serial devices present. This is not an interrupt/io address conflict.
- I think I have a hardware incompatibility here. I should mention that
- the Tyan Titan III is a new board that I installed last week. Prior
- to that I was running a 486dx266 w/ win 95 and the modem worked fine.
